Its diversified terrain includes everything from bustling metropolises and picturesque shrine towns to off-the-beaten-path hiking routes and ski resorts. Japan does a fantastic job of fusing modern conveniences with centuries-old customs. It's a safe bet that visiting here will be fascinating, educational, and even inspiring.

Check out these top destinations in Japan:

Kyoto

Kyoto, Japan's most sacred city, is typically ranked as one of the country's most popular tourist destinations, and for a good reason. Throughout the city of Kyoto, you'll find a strong sense of traditional Japanese culture.

If you visit all of Kyoto's attractions, it will take months to see everything. However, the temples of Kyyomiza-dera, Kinkaku-Ji, Ginkaku-Ji, and Arashiyama bamboo forest are places where you will feel at ease.

Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan's capital city, is a bustling, energetic, and generally the first stop for visitors. It's easy to spend a few days in Hong Kong eating fresh seafood, browsing around the many museums, and admiring the skyscrapers. Shibuya Crossing is nicknamed 'The Scramble' because of how crowded it may get at any given time.

Japanese-only customs can be found all across the city. In Harajuku, you may see Japanese fashionistas walk along the main street like models, buy their clothes, look at anime collections, and revel in the riot of color that is all around you. Thousands of metric tons of fish are traded daily in Tokyo's Tsukiji Market, where you may get the freshest catch. If the crowds get too much, the city's dozens of temples, shrines, and palaces provide a haven of tranquility.

Osaka

Osaka is more than a port city; it offers a diverse variety of entertaining activities for tourists to enjoy. Universal Studios Japan, Osaka Castle Park, and the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan are all Osaka. Dotonbori, the city's central business district, is a hive of activity, with billboards, restaurants, and stores lining the streets. Kids Plaza is an excellent place for kids to let their creativity run free, with dress-up sections, hands-on science projects, and plenty of room to play.

Hakone

Mount Fuji may be seen in the distance from Hakone, a mountainous region with hot springs and a serene atmosphere. You can have a traditional onsen bath for a truly unique experience. The Hakone Shrine, located at Lake Ashinoko's end, is a breathtaking crater lake where visitors can find calm.

After a long trip in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, the hot springs come in handy. The park has several well-maintained hiking paths, and Hakone is an excellent base for exploring them.

Kobe

Kobe is a port city with stunning mountains and a wide range of activities, experiences, retail stores, and dining options to discover. The Arima Onsen hot spring spa in the center of Kobe, the Kobe Ropeway ride above the city, the Earthquake Museum, and the Sorakuen Garden oasis can all be included in a well-rounded itinerary. For a bird's eye view of Kobe and the nearby city of Osaka, hikers should ascend Mount Rokko.
